Making a false call to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service landed someone in prison

At the Samuel Ilori Magistrate Court Ogba in Ikeja, Uzuokwu Solomon of Harmony Estate in the Langbasa area Ajah, earned himself an avoidable conviction.

For making a false call to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Solomon was found guilty on a two-count charge.

Magistrate Bambo Odueke committed Solomon to a month of imprisonment with an option of a fine and one month of community service that includes a campaign against false calls.

It is believed that Magistrate Bambo Odueke  tempered justice with mercy by passing the minimum verdict of the law after the convict showed remorse and wasted no time in admitting guilt.
Reacting to the event, Agboola Ololade, Public Affairs Deputy Director described the ruling as an acknowledgement of the firefighting profession and the effective service delivery in Lagos.
