Residents of Igbogbo Bayeku community in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State on Saturday complained of heavy presence of naval officials in the community.

They alleged that the naval team stormed the area in operational vehicles and cordoned off the community thereby preventing vehicular movements.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said the situation caused untold hardship, adding that the jetty at both Bayeku and Ebute was sealed off preventing passengers from boarding the boats to either Lagos island/Idumota or Victoria Island.


Plateau Governor Simon Lalong has denied any involvement in the impeachment of former Speaker Ayuba Abok last Thursday.

Lalong cleared the air on the insinuation making rounds in the social media and elsewhere alleging that he was not responsible for the impeachment of the former Speaker.

Lalong was responding to a submission by a Jos-based cleric Prophet Isa El-Buba at the annual thanksgiving service of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

Leaked sex tapes intentional: I Go Dye speaks

Veteran comedian, Francis Agoda also known as I Go Dye has spoken on the sex tape scandals that recently hit the Nigerian entertainment industry.

According to him, leaked sex tapes especially by African entertainers are likely to be intentional.

I Go Dye said Africans are generally more reserved in matters of sex, and many kids have had to live with their parents in a room.

Kyari not recalled by IGP Usman Baba: Frank Mba

The Nigeria Police Force has debunked reports that suspended Deputy-commissioner of Police Abba Kyari has been recalled to resume work.

Spokesperson for the police, Commissioner Frank Mba dismissed the report.

“How can the police recall an officer suspended by the Police Service Commission?, he said.

Kyari who was formerly OC SARS and commander of the Inspector-General of police Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT) had been under investigation after being indicted in a scam case involving Abbas Ramon, commonly known as Hushpuppi.

The FBI alleged that Kyari connived with Hushpuppi to defraud a Qatari businessman of $1.1m. Read more


I didn't stop Anambra Airport commissioning: Andy Uba

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Andy Uba did not attempt to stop the commissioning  of the Anambra International Airport in Umueri by Governor Willie Obiano, on Saturday.

Mr Victor Ogene, Director, Media and Publicity for Uba described the report as fake news and lashed its purveyors for playing politics with every matter.

Ogene urged media men to dig deep and ask questions on issues bothering on lives and social development of the state.

“Journalists should search very deep into whatever news content is available to you to ascertain the true information and feed the public richly, do not depend on press releases always,” he advised.

Nigeria's COVID-19 cases plunge below 100

Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases tumbled below 100 on Saturday, with NCDC announcing just 89 cases, in contrast to the 120 on Friday.

The new cases were logged in eight states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) , the NCDC said in its latest update.

Nigeria’s confirmed cases have now reached 211,887, with 203,080 discharged and 2,895 dead.

Bauchi  topped the list of infections with 22 new cases, followed by Edo and the FCT with 17 cases respectively. Read More


Anambra: Corps members afraid, lament absence of insurance cover

Some members of the National Youth Service Corps serving in Anambra State have expressed concerns over the manner the Independent National Electoral Commission is going about the state’s governorship poll scheduled for November 6.

They spoke against the backdrop of the insecurity that has ravaged the South-East, as well as the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra.

A corps member, serving in a secondary school in Aniocha said, “If INEC does not tell us how they would ensure our safety, I am not sure I will be part of the process even if they make it compulsory for all corps members.”

Another corps member, serving in the Akwa South Local Government Area of Anambra State said, “INEC did not tell us anything about insurance cover for us. Its officials only said we are ad hoc staff and will work to support the workers of the commission. I am not sure I want to risk my life because of any election. What if they begin to shoot corps member? My mother has told me to come home.” Read more


Kwara Govt urges residents to comply with monthly sanitation

Kwara State Ministry of Environment has urged residents of the state to comply with monthly environmental sanitation exercise to enhance cleanliness and protect the environment.

This is contained in a statement by Mrs Okanlawon Taiwo, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ministry, in Ilorin on Sunday.

Diri commends security agencies for rescuing kidnapped expatriate

Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa on Sunday in Yenagoa commended security agencies for the swift rescue of an expatriate kidnapped by gunmen.

Diri gave the commendation in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Doubara Atasi.
